SAMPLE OF HIGH-PROFILE
SPRAY SYSTEMS PROJECTS
Los
Arcos Mall, Scottsdale, Arizona
Contract: February - July 2000
$1,500,000 +
Spray Systems was the abatement contractor for this sensitive, high profile
project in Scottsdale. This long time Scottsdale landmark was abated and
then demolished to make way for a new ice arena for the Phoenix Coyotes
professional hockey team. Work consisted of extensive abatement of retail
stores throughout the mall, plus mall corridors and entrances. Some of
the materials abated include, but are not limited to:
Over 75,000 square feet of asbestos-containing floor tile and mastic
Over 6,000 asbestos-containing pipe elbows and joints
In excess of 800,000 square feet of sheetrock
16,000 + cubic yards of debris 90,108 + square feet of fireproofing
Due to the demolition and construction schedule, cooperation between
contractors and site coordination was extremely sensitive. An elaborate
schedule was developed to allow the demolition contractor to come immediately
behind the abatement progress. Scheduling was successfully coordinated
to then allow the new construction to come behind the demolition work.
Media coverage and public attention to this project prior to and during
the actual performance of the scope was intense. Spray Systems was able
to accomplish the abatement as scheduled, including some additional projects
that were not anticipated at the time of bidding.
Spray System's crew size varied from 15 to 35 workers during
the duration of this project.
Maricopa
County Criminal Justice Facilities Development
Department
Contract: July 29 - August 20, 1999
$185,000
This project consisted of the removal of drywall, plaster, roofing, tile
and mastic, TSI, duct tape, window caulk, transite, ceiling lining, PCB
capacitors, mercury fluorescent bulbs, microbial decontamination and animal
feces cleanup from four buildings. These buildings were scheduled for
immediate demolition to make way for the new county jail. The ongoing
survey being performed required constant changes in the scope of work,
requiring numerous changes in manpower and scheduling. Due to the high
profile nature of this project, there was extreme media scrutiny. Spray
Systems kept the confidentiality of the project intact and referred all
media questions to the appropriate owner representative. All demolition
dates proceeded as scheduled.
Work Force: 50+ workers.
Hacienda

throughout tower and out-buildings. This project was awarded two weeks
prior to start date. Spray Systems completed this project three days prior
to scheduled completion date. Spray Systems was under a tight time frame
while working side by side with Complete Demolition, Inc. Completion of
this project on schedule was imperative, due to the national television
broadcast of the implosion of the structure on New Years Eve.

This project was performed in a short time frame with the removal of asbestos-containing
drywall/plaster, seam tape, tile and mastic, TSI, and boiler insulation
throughout the hotel, including conference rooms, boiler rooms and out-buildings.

Wells
Fargo Tower
Phoenix, Arizona
Contract: February 1998 - December 1998
$434,000+
This project consisted of decontamination of overspray/dust from ceiling
tiles, lights, HVAC, walls, etc. One-third of each of the contaminated
floors was put under negative air and contained with 6-mil poly on furnishings,
walls, and floors. The windows were removed/replaced for the negative
air to be exhausted outside of the building. All accessible lights and
ceiling tiles were removed and replaced during this same time period.
As the project was performed on weekends over the period of a year in
a live office setting, great concern and caution were exercised in coordinating
activities with the owner and facility personnel. This project started
on Friday nights and continuous crews were brought in around the clock
until Sunday morning until final air clearances were established.
Work Force: 5 - 20 workers per shift, average 5 shifts per
weekend
